5The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” 8So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. (NIV)
4 Gospels into 4 Years (4 in 4). The 4 Gospels record the most pivotal events in history. We will soon commemorate 2000 years from those key events, which historians tell us cover the 4 years from the ministry of John the Baptist (~AD 29) to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus (AD 33). The Christian community will celebrate the bimillennial of these events through a collective focus on the reading and study of one of the Gospels for each of these 4 years.*
Year 1. Pentecost 2029 to Pentecost 2030 – Book of Matthew Year 2. Pentecost 2030 to Pentecost 2031 – Book of Mark Year 3. Pentecost 2031 to Pentecost 2032 – Book of Luke Year 4. Pentecost 2032 to Pentecost 2033 – Book of John At Easter 2033 the reading and study of the Book of Acts will begin.
The Gospels are a common link for all Christian traditions and denominations. Thus, the common study of the Gospels is a celebration of unity. Believers everywhere are called upon to make "4 in 4" part of their bimillennial celebrations. Collaborative efforts are encouraged to ensure all peoples groups will have access to these Gospels in their languages. Missions and outreach organizations are encouraged to follow this Gospels program to point unbelievers to the resurrection, specially commemorated in 2033. Churches are encouraged to add the Gospel readings to their regular worship gatherings. Community gatherings (e.g. Sunday Schools, Home Fellowships, and Bible Study programs) are encouraged to join this focus on the Gospels. Adopting this Gospels schedule is also encouraged for personal Bible readings and devotionals.
*Lectionary cycles A, B, C are scheduled for 2029, 2030, and 2031
